Juan Soto sat front row at Dodger Stadium to cheer on former teammates Trea Turner and Max Scherzer in playoff game

The Washington Nationals essentially eliminated themselves from playoff contention in late July by trading away stars Trea Turner and Max Scherzer to the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Nats would end up finishing dead last in the National League East and own the fifth-worst record in baseball.

None of that has stopped their young, phenom outfielder Juan Soto from enjoying the postseason though as he was in attendance in LA to watch his former teammates play an NL Wild Card game against the St. Louis Cardinals. And oh yeah, he was wearing his World Series ring.

Washington Nationals post emotional tribute video for Max Scherzer after trade to Dodgers

After being swept by the Baltimore Orioles last week, the Washington Nationals decided to blow up the team and rebuild, leaving only a handful of players remaining from the 2019 World Series team.

The Nats made six trades over the last 24 hours – none more painful than sending pitching ace Max Scherzer and star shortstop Trea Turner to the Dodgers for four prospects.

Friday night, after things finally settled down, the Nats posted this tribute video for Scherzer.

Juan Soto to participate in 2021 Home Run Derby at Coors Field

Washington Nationals outfielder Juan Soto will participate in the MLB’s Home Run Derby, which is being held at Coors Field this year. The event will air on Monday, July 12 at 8 PM on ESPN.

Soto announced the news on his personal Twitter.

Behind the scenes of the Washington Nationals’ World Series celebration and shirtless Zamboni ride at the Nov. 3 Capitals game

The Washington Nationals beat the Houston Astros 6-2 in Game Seven of the World Series to become world champions for the first time. In the locker room, they tried to drink out of the Commissioners’ Trophy like it was the Stanley Cup – at some point bending three of its flags. On November 2, the team paraded down Constitution Avenue. The next evening the players filed into a party bus and drove into the underbelly of Capital One Arena to celebrate at a Capitals game.

“That was the best night for me,” Adam Eaton said in an interview on the RMNB Podcast. “I loved the parade but this was better than the parade. The reason it was better than the parade was because — no offense to the families — it was the last time that we could have everybody together. Just the boys. It was the roster. There was no wives, no kids, no nothing. It was just the boys. Let’s go.”

The Washington Nationals played hockey out on the ice after the Capitals game ended

The Washington Nationals went to the Washington Capitals game last night. The World Series champions, in the presence of such great partiers, let go of their inhibitions and the game became a wild house party. There was drinking, there was celebrating, and there was lots of half nudity.

So obviously, the best way to end the night was to let these players out on the ice, which is slippery, and let them play a dangerous sport that is new and foreign to them.

The Nationals played hockey, you guys.

The Washington Nationals got shirtless on the Zamboni

“They look pretty sober,” Evgeny Kuznetsov incorrectly observed of the Washington Nationals during the second intermission. “When we was in their situation, I don’t remember anything.”

Literally minutes later, a group of Washington Nationals players including Max Scherzer, Trea Turner, and Adam Eaton, got onto a Zamboni.

They got shirtless with their World Series championship trophy.

The long list of local sports stars who attended Game One

Game One of the Washington Capitals-Carolina Hurricanes first-round series was a star-studded affair.

Seemingly all of the biggest sports stars in DC came out to support the Caps as they try to repeat as Stanley Cup champions.

Bryce Harper and several Nats teammates attended Game Two of the Caps-Leafs series

The Washington Nationals appears to have caught Caps playoff fever and they don’t care who knows it.

Last weekend, the team watched the Capitals-Bruins game during batting practice at Citizens Bank Park. A few days later, outfielder Adam Eaton took his son to practice at Kettler. On Saturday, the Nationals attended Game Two at Verizon Center.

Pitcher Max Scherzer was first to break the news, telling Grant Paulsen on Friday that he and a few other Nats players would attend. The full Nats crew included Scherzer, Michael A. Taylor, Trea Turner, Ryan Zimmerman, Adam Eaton, Vegas Golden Knights fan Bryce Harper, and their significant others.
