Friday, I was asked to join the NHL Network for a live TV interview. Jackie Redmond, who is very good at her job, asked me some very good questions and, other than me hating my face and the fact that I accidentally cut off part of the RMNB sign in the background, I think it went well.
So yeah, watch it for yourself and please be kind. I’m fragile.
Wednesday afternoon, I was a guest on NHL Network’s NHL Now and spoke to Jackie Redmond about the latest happenings with the Washington Capitals.
The fun part was Jackie did not give me lame, narrative-driven questions. I got awesome, open-ended questions and I think I did ok?
I dunno. You tell me.
Three-time Olympian, Monique Lamoureux-Morando, won her first Olympic gold with Team USA at Pyeongchang in February 2018. Monique scored the game-tying goal in the final and her twin sister, Jocelyne Lamoureux-Davidson, tallied the game-winning shootout goal.
The sisters later appeared on NHL Network’s NHL Now show to discuss their incredible experience at the Winter Olympics. On Wednesday, NHL Network announced that they were adding Monique Lamoureux-Morando as a permanent studio analyst.

Braden Holtby was one of the Capitals representatives on the NHL Media Tour yesterday. One of the Holtbeast’s stops was with the NHL Network to talk about the upcoming Capitals season.
Joining Jamison Coyle, E.J. Hradek, and Bill Lindsay on NHL Tonight, Holtby spoke about the Capitals’ continued struggles in the playoffs.
“Right now it’s just building out game, building the way we can feel comfortable in the uncomfortable situations. Really focus on that throughout the year,” Holtby said. “To make sure that when it comes down to it, we aren’t having a game like we did in Game Seven of last year against the Penguins.”
Holtby also preached that the team needs to be focused when they first play the Vegas Golden Knights on December 23.
“I think the biggest thing leading up to that is not taking them as an expansion team because they have some serious players and they are going to be a hard team to play against,” Holtby mentioned, likely referencing former teammate Nate Schmidt. “I think the building is going to have a lot of energy, especially in the first year, so it will be fun, it will be a fun challenge. I think we are all excited to play there for the first game.”

The NHL Network has been filling the dead space of summer by releasing positional rankings and, oh boy, did their rankings of wingers have one glaring error.
Lists are hard. It’s impossible to please everyone and disagreement is a guarantee. So, it’s not fair to expect lists to conform 100 percent to our own rankings, but, in an ideal world, lists are accurate enough to where reasonable minds can disagree. The NHL’s ranking of wingers allows for no such thing because no reasonable person can agree that Taylor Hall is only the 20th best winger in the NHL.
Hall is criminally underrated on the list, coming in at 20th.

Former Capitals Head Coach Bruce Boudreau was a second-round draft pick by the Leafs, a Calder Cup-winning head coach in the AHL, and a successful bench boss in the NHL. Yet he might be best known for a 15-second cameo he made in the cult-classic movie Slap Shot.
Next Wednesday, the NHL will debut a documentary entitled Slap Shot at 40, which features interviews on the film’s enduring popularity. Boudreau will be a big part of that special along with the Hanson Brothers, Bob Costas, Ned Dowd, Adam Oates, Mike Gartner, and many others.

The NHL Network is in town this week to cover the US Olympic Camp at Kettler Capitals Iceplex. With such important guests in the house, the Caps gave them the dignity and respect they deserve: unfettered access to Slapshot’s Party Room.
