Nicklas Backstrom’s 1000 point pregame ceremony: Ovi’s trip, N1KY apples, and a golden stick

Ahead of their game against the New Jersey Devils, the Washington Capitals celebrated Nicklas Backstrom hitting the 1,000 point plateau. Backstrom’s fiancee, three children, parents, and brother were all in attendance.

But the ceremony might be remembered more for what almost happened to Alex Ovechkin on the red carpet. Which makes sense, since Ovi always steals the spotlight from Nicke!

Live blog: Capitals face Devils on N1KY Night

The Washington Capitals broke their two-game losing streak against the Buffalo Sabres on Friday, thanks to a big night from Alex Ovechkin and his alter ego Ovi The Goalie. Now the Capitals will try to win both games of their back-to-back against the New Jersey Devils.

Tonight the Capitals will celebrate Nicklas Backstrom breaking the 1000 point milestone with a pregame milestone. Fans in attendance are getting squishy apples to celebrate.

Capitals to honor Nicklas Backstrom for his 1,000th point in pregame ceremony March 26. Team will giveaway N1KY 1,000 Points apples.

The Washington Capitals will honor Nicklas Backstrom for reaching the 1,000 point milestone before they play the New Jersey Devils on Saturday, March 26.

According to a release, Capitals team president Dick Patrick and general manager Brian MacLellan will be on the ice for the pregame ceremony to salute the Capitals legend. Backstrom’s family will also be present.

Fans in attendance will also have an opportunity to grab a squishy N1KY 1,000 Points apple.
