Four nights after having the biggest comeback win in team history, the Washington Capitals will play hockey again and they may have a very famous guest in the stands to watch.
Tuesday after the Leafs’ morning skate, Auston Matthews said he believes Justin Bieber will be at Scotiabank Arena for the game.
The Toronto Maple Leafs announced Tuesday night that they acquired David Clarkson and a 2020 fourth-round pick from the Vegas Golden Knights for backup goaltender Garret Sparks.
In the Leafs’ press release, they mentioned the fourth-round pick before Clarkson and that pretty much sums up the deal.
This trade was not made to improve the Leafs on the ice per se. This was done to open up cap space to bring Mitch Marner back.

After scoring a combined 43 goals in two full seasons with the Toronto Maple Leafs, longtime San Jose Shark Patrick Marleau is on the move again. The 39-year-old forward was dealt to the Carolina Hurricanes along with a conditional first round pick (2020) and a seventh-round pick (2020) for a 2020 sixth-round pick.
The move was essentially a salary dump. The Leafs are in desperate need of cap space to sign several players including Mitch Marner. Marleau has one year remaining on a three-year, $18.75 contract that has an annual cap hit of $6.25 million. According to Bob McKenzie, the Hurricanes will try to convince Marleau to play for them. If he opts not to, they will buy him out allowing him to become an unrestricted free agent. Marleau may also choose to retire.
Saturday morning, after the deal was completed, Marleau jumped on his wife’s Twitter — he doesn’t have social media himself — to thank fans and the Toronto organization. He also had a special message for Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner.

On Saturday, the Buffalo Sabres headed to Toronto to face off against the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Sabres were not the only special visitors that evening. Hayden Foulon was also in the building to celebrate her seventh birthday watching her best friend Mitch Marner.

The Toronto Maple Leafs played the Vegas Golden Knights Thursday in a Valentine’s Day matchup between two of the best young teams in the NHL. The best moment of the night however happened before puck drop.
One tiny Leafs fan brought a sign to the game asking Mitch Marner to Be My Valentine.
Marner obliged in spectacular fashion.
On Thursday, the Toronto Maple Leafs held their annual community outdoor practice at Toronto City Hall. While you might usually think, “Oh, that’s cool. Their annual outdoor practice. Neat.” I’m here to let you know it was even cooler than you think.

Monday afternoon, news of tragedy broke. In Toronto, a van struck pedestrians, killing 10 and injuring many more. This hit exceptionally close to home in the hockey world, as the Maple Leafs played Monday night at the Air Canada Centre in Game Six of their series against the Boston Bruins.
The Leafs paid tribute to the victims of the attack, holding a moment of silence before the national anthems. But what happened during “O, Canada” was an emotional show of strength and togetherness.
