Henrik Lundqvist will sport some of the boldest pads in Washington Capitals history when he eventually makes his on-ice debut for his former divisional rival next season.
Hank’s Bauer pads will be white and feature the Weagle logo and the Capitol Building. There are also navy stripes with white stars.

Henrik Lundqvist spent 15 years as a New York Ranger, winning 456 games and a Vezina Trophy in 2012.
But after getting bought out by the Rags earlier this month, the 38-year-old goaltender signed a one-year, $1.5 million contract with the Washington Capitals, hoping to have a Ray Bourque moment of his own.
Recently, Lundqvist visited Washington DC for the first time with his family. Today, he rocked a Capitals jersey for the first time.
“Trust the process,” wrote Lundqvist online.
Brenden Dillon was a guest on DC101’s Elliot In The Morning on Wednesday.
The Capitals defenseman, who signed a four-year extension worth $3.9 million per season, spoke about his excitement remaining in Washington and the team’s moves in free agency.
One transaction that Dillon was particularly enthusiastic about was the signing of Henrik Lundqvist. In fact, Dillon is basically like all of us.
Henrik Lundqvist made his first visit to Washington DC since signing with the Capitals as an unrestricted free agent. Lundqvist posted several photos from the team’s practice facility, MedStar Capitals Iceplex, as well as the National Mall.
“Roadtrip,” Lundqvist wrote. “Checking out our new surroundings and we LIKE it😎”

Recently, Nicklas Backstrom and Carl Hagelin shared their thoughts on Hank’s signing to several Swedish publications. Both players have been Lundqvist’s teammate before and were really excited to have him in Washington.

The Washington Capitals are fans of round-number accomplishments and today they are celebrating Alex Ovechkin’s 100th career goal.
Thirteen years ago, Ovechkin hit the century mark in a 3-1 loss to the New York Rangers on October 12, 2007.

Henrik Lundqvist listed a variety of reasons for signing with the Washington Capitals on Friday after spending the first 15 years of his career with the New York Rangers.
“I think for a few weeks now, I’ve been doing my homework on different scenarios and options for me,” Lundqvist said. “I have to say, the Capitals checked every box when it comes to a team that understands winning, a great coaching staff, and (giving me) an opportunity to play some games.
“Those were the main factors. Starting with a chance to win. At this point of my career that’s the most important thing.”
Lundqvist is hoping history repeats itself and he can end his career just like Hockey Hall of Famer Ray Bourque did 19 years ago.

Henrik Lundqvist officially signed a one-year, $1.5 million contract with the Washington Capitals on Friday. The King was really excited.
One of the reasons: Lundqvist will not have to face Alex Ovechkin in an actual game next season.
General manager Brian MacLellan spoke to media on Friday after the Washington Capitals signed two unrestricted free agents, Henrik Lundqvist and Justin Schultz, and saw longtime starter Braden Holtby leave for Vancouver.
During Mac’s chat with the press, he revealed that Lundqvist will get an opportunity to start and that he’s not automatically the backup. He also spoke about the acquisition of Schultz and where he thinks the right-handed defenseman fits in the lineup.
