Todd Nelson says Hershey Bears healthy-scratched Hendrix Lapierre twice because ‘his intensity has to rise up’

The Hershey Bears sat Washington Capitals 2020 first-round pick Hendrix Lapierre in both of their weekend games. The healthy scratches were Lapierre’s first of his professional career.

With the NHL trade deadline two weeks away, the move raised eyebrows, especially as the Capitals are scuffling and are becoming a long shot to make the playoffs for a ninth-straight season.

But the prospect was not healthy-scratched for trade reasons. It was for his recent play.

Dylan Strome a healthy scratch for Flyers game

Dylan Strome appears to have gone from a top-six player to a healthy scratch in less than a week.

A day after skating on the wing of the fourth line during a short practice, Strome took part in the scratches’ skate after the Capitals’ optional morning skate, Saturday.

The news was reported by The Athletic’s Tarik El-Bashir.

Jakub Vrana a healthy scratch for second consecutive game in AHL

If Jakub Vrana is going to get back to the NHL, he’s going to have to claw his way back onto the ice in the American League first.

Friday the Grand Rapids Griffins announced that the 2018 Stanley Cup champion would be a healthy scratch for the second consecutive game.

Vrana was also held out of the Griffins’ 5-2 loss to the Iowa Wild on Wednesday night.

Grand Rapids Griffins healthy scratch Jakub Vrana

Jakub Vrana is getting no favors from the Detroit Red Wings organization as he tries to make his comeback to the NHL. The talented winger missed his first game since being sent down to the American Hockey League on December 28.

Vrana was healthy scratched by the Grand Rapids Griffins in their 5-2 loss to the Iowa Wild. The Griffins cited the AHL Veteran Rule in a pregame video as the reason why Vrana sat in the press box. Vrana is a minus-six and has one point, a primary assist, in six games with the Griffins so far.

Jakub Vrana to be healthy scratch for second straight game

Jakub Vrana, the Capitals’ second-leading goal scorer at even-strength (10 goals), will sit again against the New Jersey Devils per head coach Peter Laviolette.

Laviolette announced the lineup decision during his press conference with reporters two hours before puck drop.
