Tuesday, the Washington Capitals revealed that a new sheet of ice was laid down at Capital One Arena via a time-lapse video.
The Washington Capitals announced on Monday that they have hired two new in-arena hosts for the 2022-23 season, Virginia natives Mike Ploger and Annie Mae.
Their on and off-camera duties will include carrying out all on-ice and in-crowd promotions as well as serving as pre-game show hosts.

Thursday morning, Monumental Sports and Entertainment announced that the famous Food Network host is bringing a restaurant to Capital One Arena. ‘Guy Fieri’s Downtown D.C. Kitchen + Bar’ is part of a recent expansion to the arena’s sportsbook.
The news was announced by the Mayor of Flavortown himself in a video posted to social media.

The Washington Capitals and Capital One Arena were criticized on Friday afternoon after two fans said they weren’t allowed inside for the Caps-Hurricanes game due to bringing a Ukrainian flag.
The two fans, Anastasiia Markova and Margaryta Suvorova, are Ukrainian and work in DC. They posed with their flags outside one of Capital One Arena’s entrances after being turned away.

Monumental Sports and Entertainment announced on Tuesday morning that it will be rolling back two of its biggest pandemic protections at Capital One Arena over the next 15 days.
Capitals fans will no longer be required to verify their vaccination status (beginning February 15) or wear masks (March 1) while attending games.
The move follows Mayor Muriel Bowser’s announcements during a press conference the day prior rolling back the mandates for DC businesses. Bowser did say businesses had the option of continuing the requirements if they wanted to.
The Washington Capitals emailed its season ticket holders and fans on Friday announcing new policies at Capital One Arena beginning on January 15, 2022. The Capitals will be requiring all fans 12-years-old or older to be vaccinated and have proof of vaccination to enter COA moving forward for games. Fans will also be required to wear masks.
The vaccine mandate comes after DC mayor Muriel Bowser announced the change for indoor spaces on December 22 as Omicron cases skyrocketed in DC and across the country.
Monumental Sports & Entertainment announced Wednesday that in accordance with a citywide mandate from DC Mayor Muriel Bowser, anyone aged twelve or older entering Capital One Arena will need to provide proof that they have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
The requirement will begin on January 15, 2022. The Capitals play the Vancouver Canucks at home the night after.
