This Slap Pass By Evgeny Kuznetsov Should Be Framed And Put Up On The Wall

The Washington Capitals have been playing just like they want against the Tampa Bay Lightning with the singular exception of the score. Despite outshooting the Bolts, the Caps had just a one-goal lead in the closing minutes of the second period. Then, as Braydon Coburn’s delay-of-game penalty was about to expire, Evgeny Kuznetsov slapped a pass right onto Jason Chimera’s stick. Scary good.

The Caps had a lot of zone time, incidentally provided by Kuznetsov’s solid carry-in to the zone, but couldn’t beat Tampa goaltender Vasilevskiy. Alex Ovechkin had left the ice as time was about to expire, which is when Kuznetsov did his thing.

The Capitals won their third game in a row on Wednesday night, beating the Winnipeg Jets 5-3. Dmitry Orlov scored in his third straight game, and Evgeny Kuznetsov had a three-point night for the fifth time this season. Alex Ovechkin also added his 11th goal and second power play marker this season.

Happy Thanksgiving! Last night, Caps fans were thankful for their team, who beat the Jets 5-3. Returning to the Verizon Center ice for the first time as a Winnipeg Jet, Mathieu Perreault sported a Mo/Mullet combo in support of Movember at warmups. He is still a ray of sunshine, even if his latest team photo says otherwise. He even got a puck over the glass to some Caps fans eager to see him in his return to D.C.

Before you gorge on all the delicious food, enjoy some victory smiles from your Caps.

The Type of Decision That Will Get Andre Burakovsky Scratched Again

After being a healthy scratch for the past two games, Andre Burakovsky returned to the lineup Wednesday night against the Winnipeg Jets. Burakovsky hasn’t quite looked himself so far in 2015-16. His return to the lineup was somewhat unremarkable, as is to be expected if he continues to play with Jay Beagle and Jason Chimera.

Considering Burakovsky is not being deployed with teammates who will best maximize his skills, it will be important that he avoid any “big mistakes” that draw the ire of his coach. On Wednesday, he’s lucky that the Jets didn’t score on a 2-on-1 that was largely his responsibility, or else this mistake could stand out much more to Barry Trotz.

Anthony Peluso Thinks Tom Wilson Is Chicken

In the second period of Wednesday night’s game between the Capitals and the Winnipeg Jets, Jets enforcer Anthony Peluso checked Caps forward Tom Wilson hard into the boards. In the resulting scrum, words were exchanged. Face washes were had. Then Peluso wanted to fight.

I know this because after getting turned down, Peluso put his gloves at his hips and started flapping his figurative wings like a chicken towards Willy Baby.

Intoxicating: Caps Beat Jets 5-3

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving. Okay, we got that out of the way. Two nights after not playing the Edmonton Oilers, the Caps looked to get back on track against Winnipeg Jets (née A Team Nobody Cared About).

It took just 1:12 for the Capitals to match their goal total from Monday as Justin Williams converted in front after John Carlson got low. Five minutes later the Jets got on the board after Washington left Tyler Myers untouched in the high slot. The Jets, who had just six shots in the first, got their second when Andrew Ladd, also relatively unfettered, fired a puck past Braden Holtby. The Capitals tied with a guy named Alex Ovechkin, who now has many goals in his career.

In the second, the Capitals took the lead with an exquisite pass from Nate Schmidt to Nicklas Backstrom for a tip-in tally. The Jets got one back with a snipe from our ex Mathieu Perreault, a great player with fantastic facial hair. Then Dmitry Orlov unleashed a brilliant shot, which is perhaps something you’ve seen lately, for Washington’s fourth. Evgeny Kuznetsov added the nail in the third. Caps beat Jets 5-3.

Caps vs Jets Pregame: Thanksgiving Eve!

By the time you are reading this, most of you have already began the long weekend or are counting down the hours until it starts. YEAAAAAAA BOIIIIIIIIIIIII!

For those of you who don’t have off, as an ex-hospital employee, I feel your pain. It sucks. But thanks for doing whatever it is that you do which is so essential that you have to sacrifice holiday time to work.

The Jets are in town tonight. They have the misfortune of playing in the best division in hockey, so don’t let their fifth place, 10-10-2 record fool you. They are a good team.

Get a fire going in the fireplace, drink a warm, possibly adult beverage, and get ready to enjoy some Thanksgiving Eve hockey, y’all.
