How a random act of kindness landed one Caps fan glass-side seats and an appearance on national TV for Game Six

A Caps fan since she was five-years-old, Danielle Shindler went to many hockey games during the formative part of her youth. Danielle’s parents, who formerly resided in northern Virginia, were Capitals season-ticket holders. They passed their passion on to their daughter.

Some of Danielle’s fondest memories from her childhood include going to Caps practices at Piney Orchard Ice Arena in Odenton, Maryland. She once even owned a youth extra-small Olie Kolzig jersey. After graduating college from University of Michigan, Danielle moved back to DC for a job. The best benefit was to be able to see Caps games live again.

While Danielle has many fond memories as a fan, Monday’s Game Six will be a night she never forgets. Not only did the Caps win 3-0 to force a Game Seven in the Eastern Conference Final, she got to watch it from glass-side seats that she sat in for free via happenstance.

Braden Holtby had infinite chill when he arrived to Capital One Arena for Game Six

Monday night, the Washington Capitals played in their first potential elimination game of the 2018 postseason. And they delivered one of their best performances of the year.

Braden Holtby stopped 24 shots in the Capitals’ suffocating 3-0 win. The shutout was Holtby’s first of the season.

The Holtbeast was cool, calm, and collected throughout the entire night, and after I reviewed some tweets on social media, I think I know his secret.

John Walton called the Game Six crowd the loudest he’s ever heard at Capital One Arena. Pierre McGuire agreed.

Riding a Braden Holtby shutout, the Washington Capitals defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning 3-0 in Game Six to force a decisive Game Seven in the Eastern Conference Final.

While the Capitals played a mostly flawless game (focus on the fourth line’s goal and not their corsi), the Capital One Arena crowd was the loudest its been all season long, giving the team energy and pushing them forward.

In fact, Capitals radio’s John Walton thought it was loudest Caps fans have ever been in his presence.

Local news anchor celebrates Devante Smith-Pelly’s Game Six goal live on-air

Like any good Caps fan who had to work during Monday night’s Game Six between the Capitals and the Tampa Bay Lightning, Julian Sadur had the game on in the background. Unlike most fans, Sadur works in live television, so his reaction to Devante Smith-Pelly’s goal mid-way through the third period that put the Caps up 2-0 was seen by a lot more people.

Sadur saw the goal happen during the final minutes of the evening news broadcast on 47 ABC in Salisbury, Maryland. Sadur, who anchors the broadcast, couldn’t contain his excitement as his co-hosts tried to wrap up the show.

Believe in the beast: numbers for the morning after

The Washington Capitals have forced a Game Seven in the Eastern Conference Finals against the Tampa Bay Lightning after taking Game Six at home 3-0. Man oh man, it is much more fun to write these posts after a win. The Caps are one win away from the Stanley Cup Finals, let’s get into it.

The Caps out-shot the Lightning 34 to 24, but were out-attempted at five-on-five 53 to 50.

Capitals fans chant ‘We Want The Cup’, celebrate on National Portrait Gallery steps after Game Six ECF win

Sunday afternoon after the Vegas Golden Knights eliminated the Winnipeg Jets in five games, defenseman Nate Schmidt said during a postgame interview that he wanted to play the Capitals in the Stanley Cup Final. The Caps are now one game away from fulfilling Nate’s wish.

Monday night at Capital One Arena, the Caps shut out the Tampa Bay Lightning 3-0 in Game Six of the Eastern Conference Final. Afterwards, Caps fans filed out into the streets where they took to the National Portrait Gallery steps and celebrated.

Believe! Caps beat Lightning 3-0!

It ain’t over yet. The Caps played a spirited Game Six and bested Andrei Vasilevskiy to tie the series 3-3. We’re going to #gaysev, y’all!

Thirty-five minutes and twenty shots into the game, TJ Oshie finally dented the net with a beautiful one-timer. Then, in the third, Chandler Stephenson chased down an icing and turned it unto a scoring chance for Devante Smith-Pelly. This being the playoffs; DSP didn’t waste the opportunity.

The Bolts pressed after that, but Oshie got the empty-netter. All that was left was the small matter of Braden Holtby earning a shutout.

Caps beat Bolts 3-0! The series is going to seven!
