    Believe! Caps beat Lightning 3-0!

It ain’t over yet. The Caps played a spirited Game Six and bested Andrei Vasilevskiy to tie the series 3-3. We’re going to #gaysev, y’all!

Thirty-five minutes and twenty shots into the game, TJ Oshie finally dented the net with a beautiful one-timer. Then, in the third, Chandler Stephenson chased down an icing and turned it unto a scoring chance for Devante Smith-Pelly. This being the playoffs; DSP didn’t waste the opportunity.

The Bolts pressed after that, but Oshie got the empty-netter. All that was left was the small matter of Braden Holtby earning a shutout.

Caps beat Bolts 3-0! The series is going to seven!

    • I don’t know how to bullet tonight. I’m all verklempt. I’ll try my best.
    • How about I start with this: BRADEN HOLTBY SHUTOUT! It’s been an up-and-down second season for Holtby, but here – in the biggest game of his career to date – he delivered. It’s his first perfect game since April 4, 2017.

You can buy Holtbeast shirts and other merch in our store.

    • It was a heavy game, packed with brutal hits, as the refs put their whistles away for the most part. But it also had flow – at least until the icings started accumulating in the third period.
    • Brooks Orpik fought a dude, which was wild.
    • The Caps didn’t get a power play in Game Five. It had been nearly six periods since their last, but they DSP drew a hook after an offensive-zone faceoff and the Caps made it count. Backstrom’s hands had been an open question since he returned from injury but that pass to Oshie was a statement. Dude’s a gamer.
    • Devante Smith-Pelly had such an odd game. He hardly saw any offensive-zone time aside from faceoffs before his monster goal, but he did draw a very important penalty. The goal itself? Ultimate Caps irony: Brooks Orpik losing to a forecheck, getting bailed out, forcing an icing race, and then Chandler Stephenson turned that race into a scoring chance. Unbelievable.

By the way I haven’t watched much hockey this playoffs, but this caps/bolts game has been real good

    Hockey Dad of the night

When people talk about playoff intensity, I think this is what they mean. Huge hits (Wilson and Oshie were relentless), desperate but determined play all over the ice, and two goalies putting on next-level performances.

Hey. It’s May 21, the Caps are still alive, and they’re playing wonderfully.

And it ain’t over yet. The Caps are one win away from the Cup Final. They’ll have to get that win on Wednesday in Tampa. I believe.
