Nathan Walker became the first Australian to register a point in an NHL playoff game. He celebrated by mimicking a kangaroo.

Monday night in Pittsburgh, Capitals forward Nathan Walker accomplished more history.

The Capitals draft pick replaced Shane Gersich on the fourth line and became the first Australian to ever play in an NHL postseason game. In the second period, Walker had another feat, becoming the first Aussie to record a postseason point after he assisted on an Alex Chiasson goal.

During Barry Trotz’s postgame speech, the Caps head coach gave a shoutout to several players, including Walker.

Since the Capitals closed out their second series with a win over the Penguins, we’ve lived — and relived — every defining moment. From Evgeny Kuznetsov’s overtime game-winning goal, to John Walton’s call, to the Capitals bench celebration.

Those celebrations spilled over into the locker room, post-game, and the Capitals shared some of them in a viral video wrapping up a decisive Game Six.

The Capitals knocked over a Penguins fan while celebrating Evgeny Kuznetsov’s series-clinching goal

Evgeny Kuznetsov’s Game Six OTGWG set off a raucous celebration on the ice and on the Capitals bench.

We’re now learning, via a snippet of the Capitals’ video recap, that the onslaught of celebrating Caps players accidentally knocked over a Penguins fans as he stood by the glass.

Breaking down the Capitals wild celebration at the bench after beating the Penguins

Coming into Monday night’s game, the Washington Capitals had lost nine out of 10 series against the Pittsburgh Penguins and had never gotten past the second round of the playoffs during the Alex Ovechkin Era. Despite winning the Presidents’ Trophy in three of the last nine seasons and division titles in eight of the last 11, Capitals fans would label the year a failure when the team choked in the playoffs.

Evgeny Kuznetsov’s beautiful, clutch, exhilarating, perfect, overtime game-winning goal changed all of that. And the Caps bench erupted in one of the most raucous team celebrations you’ll ever see.

‘Go Caps’: Arlington County Police gives Nastya Ovechkina ticket, lets her off with warning

On Monday, the Washington Capitals finally exorcised their demons and beat the Pittsburgh Penguins 2-1 in Game Six, advancing to the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time in 20 years.

After the big win, the Capitals made their way back to DC from Pittsburgh and at Dulles International Airport, Nastya Ovechkina waited for Alex Ovechkin to land. Nastya took to instagram to show off a celebratory sign at the airport as well as a little extra surprise from the Arlington County Police Department.

They did the thing: numbers for the morning after

Yes, THAT thing. The Washington Capitals slayed the dragon that is the Pittsburgh Penguins 2-1 in overtime of Game Six. They will now move onto the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time since 1998.

The Caps out-shot the Penguins 30 to 22 and out-attempted them at five-on-five 58 to 47.

Alex Ovechkin shakes hands with Sidney Crosby after beating Penguins in playoffs for first time

Monday night after winning Game Six in overtime 2-1, the Washington Capitals shook hands with the Pittsburgh Penguins and participated in the greatest tradition in sports.

Alex Ovechkin and Sidney Crosby, two hockey superstars forever linked, met in the handshake line for the fourth time after the conclusion of an NHL playoffs series. The Game Six win marked the first time Ovechkin had beaten Crosby in the postseason. Ovi was previously 0 for 3, including second-round losses in consecutive seasons.

TJ Oshie tweets out ‘Free Willy 2’ movie poster featuring Tom Wilson

After the Caps defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins in Game Five, they guaranteed that suspended forward Tom Wilson would play another game this season. What still needed to be determined was if it would be Game Seven of the Caps-Pens second round series or Game One of the Eastern Conference Final.

Monday, after Evgeny Kuznetsov beat Matt Murray in overtime, the Caps reached the third round for the first time in two decades. TJ Oshie immediately jumped on Twitter to welcome back Tom Wilson on to the active roster in ridiculous fashion.

John Walton’s legendary call of Evgeny Kuznetsov’s series-clinching goal

With NBC’s national crew taking over all broadcasts in the second round, John Walton, the radio voice of the Capitals, was the only local announcer to do play-by-play of the Capitals series-clinching win against the Penguins.

His call of Evgeny Kuznetsov OTGWG was epic. You need to give it a listen.

Alex Ovechkin on what he thought right before Evgeny Kuznetsov’s series-clinching goal: ‘Please score. Just f*cking please score.’

Over the last decade, Alex Ovechkin has taken a brunt of the criticism as the Capitals have failed to make it past the second round of the playoffs all 10 times during his career.

Monday night that all changed when Evgeny Kuznetsov reeled in a pass from the Russian machine and buried the puck past Matt Murray for the series-clinching win. The victory ended 20 years of DC Sports misery — no big-four team had made it to the semifinals since 1998, the longest current streak in sports. It was the second time the Capitals have ever beaten the Penguins in the playoffs, improving their series record to 2-9.

After the game, Ovechkin spoke to Pierre McGuire and told the NBC analyst what he thought as he watched Kuzy race in all alone on Murray for the decisive goal.
