The Washington Capitals made the first round of cuts to their 2026 Training Camp roster on Tuesday.
Nine players were cut in total, trimming the team’s roster to 44 from the 53 players who began camp at the end of last week.
All nine cut players are headed to the AHL’s Hershey Bears, with just one, forward Ludwig Persson, needing to clear waivers before being sent down.

The Capitals had a scheduled off day on Tuesday. They will be back on the ice at MedStar Capitals Iceplex for two days before playing the Boston Bruins in their third preseason game at Capital One Arena on Friday night.
The club will play two more total preseason games, ending their exhibition slate with a road matchup against the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday night.
NHL teams must set their 23-man opening day rosters by 5 pm ET on September 28. The Capitals open their regular season on the road against the Carolina Hurricanes on October 2.
