The Washington Capitals are still making their way through a tough five-game road trip out west and their latest opponent is the Vancouver Canucks. The Capitals will jump on the ice at Rogers Arena on Saturday night as veteran forward TJ Oshie skates in his 1,000th NHL game.
Oshie draws in after leaving some doubt this morning as he came off the ice early and did not participate in line rushes. Charlie Lindgren gets another start in goal.
Puck drop is a little after 10 pm ET. Tonight’s game is airing on Monumental Sports Network 2 with the Wizards playing on the main channel.

Not the best start in the world but the Capitals seemed to control the back half of the first period. They still go into the first intermission down a goal though.
Shots are tied 6-6 after 20 minutes.
2nd Period
Puck is dropped.
🚨 1-1 Capitals. Tom Wilson slams home an easy one after Ivan Miroshnichenko sets him up with a no-look feed. The assist is Miro’s first in the NHL.
🚨 2-1 Capitals. The Capitals get two in quick succession as Alex Ovechkin has an empty net to put his 19th goal of the season into.
Phillip Di Giuseppe takes a two-minute interference minor, putting the Capitals on a power play.
The Capitals take a 2-1 lead into the third period. Canucks pressured late but Lindgren and the defense held on.
Shots are 22-16 in favor of the Capitals after 40 minutes.
3rd Period
Puck is dropped.
Rasmus Sandin puts Vancouver on their first power play try of the night with an interference minor.
Sandin, Hendrix Lapierre, and Nic Dowd all made huge defensive plays in quick succession late in the period to keep the Capitals in the lead.
A two-on-one opportunity is wasted by Vancouver as Lafferty and Hoglander get their signals crossed.
Capitals hold on to win after a couple of extended shifts in their own zone with the Canucks goaltender pulled for an extra man.
The Capitals outshot the Canucks 24 to 22 but were out-attempted at five-on-five 58 to 43.
