Ron Francis told TSN the Kraken hope to be officially part of the NHL toward the end of this month (whey they make final expansion payment). They can talk to teams now but can't make deals.

Storylines
- Caps players penned their goodbyes after a Cup winning teammate and beloved goofball was dealt westward.

- Brian MacLellan says that Jakub Vrana was a “frustrated player” under Peter Laviolette and that the Caps “moved on from it”.
- The obvious, blockbuster, huge move that the Caps made was the trade that saw Vrana, Richard Panik, and two future draft picks sent to the Detroit Red Wings for Anthony Mantha.
- The Caps first acquisition at the deadline was of Michael Raffl from this Flyers team in exchange for a fifth-round draft pick.
- Before they made the deal for Mantha, the Caps had reported interest in Taylor Hall before he was dealt to Boston.
- The Capitals first home game with fans will be on April 27 against the New York Islanders. Season-ticket holders will have priority on tickets.
