Every member of the 2019-20 defending champion St. Louis Blues logged on for a video conference to commemorate what should have been opening night for the Stanley Cup Playoffs, Wednesday.
Sportsnet’s Jim Hughson and NBC Kathryn Tappen hosted the funny, and at times chaotic, chat with over two dozen players, coaches, and management.

“We missed these guys in St. Louis and we’re looking forward to getting everybody back here and playing hockey real soon,” Blues general manager Doug Armstrong said to kick off the call.
Goaltender Jordan Binnington also commented on his future shootout with Justin Bieber.
“Right when I found out the season was paused I ordered a computer monitor, just to double screens up there and really study his moves,” Binnington said, eliciting laughter from many of his teammates. “See when he’s picking up his head, how his backhand is. But for the most part, we’re going to wing it.”
Former Capitals forward Troy Brouwer participated in the call outside and sat very far away from his camera.
Meanwhile, Jaden Schwartz used a Zoom background of the Golden Gate Bridge before turning it off several minutes into the chat.
The Blues’ teleconference marked the first virtual coming together of a professional sports team since the suspension of play.
