Nicklas Backstrom and Radko Gudas skate with over 100 special-needs children during 10th annual Dreams for Kids skate

For the tenth consecutive year, the Washington Capitals hosted a hockey clinic with Dreams for Kids, an organization that hosts special events to empower children with physical and developmental disabilities. This year, Capitals Nicklas Backstrom and Radko Gudas skated with the over 100 kids and young adults at MedStar Capitals Iceplex.

Backstrom and Gudas took photos and signed autographs with the kids and their families, some of whom had attended the Dreams for Kids skate in prior years and kept in touch. Each child was paired up with a volunteer as they skated around the Capitals practice rink.

Both Backstrom and Gudas gave rides to a few special kids.

This is so sweet.

February is the NHL’s Hockey Is For Everyone month. The Capitals Dreams For Kids skate is one of many initiatives geared towards encouraging inclusiveness in the sport of hockey.
