Sunday evening, Capitals 2018 first-round pick Alex Alexeyev scored his first goal of the World Junior Championships.
Wednesday night in a quarterfinal matchup against Slovakia and fellow Caps draft pick Martin Fehervary, Alexeyev notched his second goal of the tournament to put the Russians up 3-0.

To start the play, Alexeyev jumps in from the point and breaks the ankles of Slovakian forward Milos Kelemen.
Then, as he darts to the middle, he picks a spot and rifles a shot past Slovak goalie Samuel Hlavaj.
Alexeyev was stoked about his goal.
Hlavaj was yanked right after this goal and replaced by Jakub Kostelny.
Russia entered the quarterfinal as the top seed from Group A, including a huge win against Canada 2-1 Monday to determine the top seed from the group.
Entering Wednesday’s matchup, Alexeyev was tied for ninth in assists with three, and Russia’s shooting percentage ranked third in the tournament at 12.71 percent.
