After the Caps surrendered a 2-0 lead to the Islanders (in their usual meek, right-after-they-score-a-goal fashion), Alex Ovechkin wrestled the lead back in the second period with a simple flick of the wrist. That’s what captains do. This time, it made one particular fan in the stands very happy.

As Tom Wilson took a breakout from behind his the Caps net, he raced up the ice and made a power move into the offensive zone. He shoved the puck right onto Ovechkin’s blade. Like a game of hot potato, the Russian machine used Travis Hamonic as a screen and fired the puck to the far post, beating Islanders goaltender Chad Johnson clean.

It was Ovechkin’s team-leading 12th goal of the season and his third in two games.

One fan in the stands was extra excited.

THIS GUY.

This fan, apparently from Singapore, rocked out in the lower bowl of Verizon Center while holding up a sign that read, “Ovechkin I flew 9650 miles from Singapore to see you! GO CAPS GO!!!”

A great moment, and hopefully Ovi will get him another. That’s a long way to travel for just one goal.
