Caps Lose Soccer Ball But Have Ingenious Solution to Get it Back

Before warm-ups, the Caps were playing some pre-game sewer ball in the bowels of the Pepsi Center. At some point during the game, one of the Caps got a bit too excited and kicked the ball into the lights. Uh oh.

But that’s when the boys put their heads together and came up with a plan to get it back.

First, Tom Wilson and Stan Galiev grabbed a ladder while Andre Burakovsky knighted Marcus Johansson with a broom stick. Nate Schmidt and Michael Latta looked on from a distance skeptical the plan would work. Wilson, the tallest member of the team, then climbed up and poked at the soccer ball with the broom stick handle. Eventually he made contact and knocked the ball into the loving arms of Marcus Johansson.

This is impressive, but it’s not as ingenious as what Alex Ovechkin and Alex Semin once did to get a ball back before a game against the Habs.

Semin actually climbed up Ovechkin and then stood on his shoulders to retrieve it.
