Nicklas Backstrom holds Alex Ovechkin after Capitals break light during game of sewer ball

Great moments in team-building history can strike at any time. And before the Capitals game against the Toronto Maple Leafs, Caps players needed some quick thinking and some ingenious teamwork to fix all the things they broke during a pregame bout of sewer ball.

The Capitals broke a light multiple times and then – whoops! The soccer ball got stuck in the ceiling of Scotiabank Arena.

First, the Capitals kicked the soccer ball into a lightt. It knocked the caging off. Alex Ovechkin responded by screaming, “YASSSSSSSS! YASSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!” Real mature, Ovi.

But Ovi took the initiative to fix it, as Nicklas Backstrom held him from behind. This feels very Titanic to me. Backy <3's Ovi.

The game of sewer ball started again, but uh oh, there goes the caging again. This time Brendan Leipsic fixes it.

Finally, the Capitals posted a final video. It shows the ball in the ceiling somehow. But Jonas Seigenthaler had a solution for that. He took the handle of a broom and hit the ball until it came out an opening.

With teamwork like this, I think the Caps should plan the parade now.
