Proud parents of a superstar, rocking the Kris Kross look
Today marks the end of the regular season. Tonight’s game against the Ducks, a make-up game from the snowstorm, means precious little, but come tomorrow– that’s then the big show begins.
Let’s enjoy tonight for what it is– exhibition hockey against a good, fun team.
Puck drop at 7:30 PM. Coverage on CSN.

Projected Lineup
The Caps traveled yesterday, and it’s the final game of the season. Will they rest dudes? Will Galiev, Weber, and Latta see ice? I dunno. Neither do you. Here’s how they looked last night, plus Grubauer in net.
Ovechkin – Backstrom – Oshie
Burakovsky – Kuznetsov – Williams
Chimera – Richards – Johansson
Winnik – Beagle – Wilson
Orpik – Carlson
Alzner – Niskanen
Weber – Orlov
Grubauer
The Ice Cheetah Celebrates
The moments after Jason Chimera’s 20th goal, at #RMNB9 last night. More on Chimera’s achievement below.
Storylines
- Alex Ovechkin has scored 50 goals for the 7th time. Only Bossy and Gretzky have done that.
- Braden Holtby has tied Martin Brodeur’s record for most wins in a single season. Will he play tonight?
- Jason Chimera has tied his career high in goals with 20. At age 36. Since 2005, only 32 skaters have done that– and they’re almost all big names like Selanne, Iginla, MSL, Shanahan, and your boy Knuble.
- Justin Williams will hit 1000 games tonight.
- Jay Beagle got banged up blocking a shot last night. I doubt he’ll play considering Galiev and Latta are available.
- And btw, the Caps have recalled Zach Sill.
- The Ducks are ranked 1st in power play and penalty kill. Ok.
- Mary Elizabeth Winstead (10 Cloverfield Lane, Mercy Street, Scott Pilgrim) is in DC!
What’s Next?
The Washington Capitals will play the Philadelphia Flyers in the playoffs. The Flyers are a good team in spite of themselves, recording a 40-27-14 record and 94 points with one left to play.
The Flyers have been tumultuous in their possession this season, much like the Caps, but both teams have finished strong in underlying numbers.

And while the Capitals had amazing percentages through the new year, the Flyers didn’t get super hot until February and March– including a winning streak that put them in the position they’re in now.

We’ll have a lot more on this soon, but it’s gonna be a good hockey series– though we’re probably gonna be talking about Tom Wilson the whole time.
