Vice President Joe Biden is at Wells Fargo Center for the Caps-Flyers game and eating ice cream

Wednesday, Vice President Joe Biden was in attendance for the Caps-Flyers rivalry night game. Biden was first spotted by @TheOrangeNBlack on Twitter.

Biden did not sit in a suite. The popular VP was sitting in the lower bowl just a few rows back from the glass.

And yes, of course he’s eating ice cream.

Born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, Biden has attended many hockey games in the past, including a 2010 Stanley Cup Final game between the Blackhawks and Flyers. He also attended the women’s hockey preliminary game between the US and China at the Vancouver Olympics.

Biden is a self-proclaimed Flyers fan.

“I have to tell you I am guilty as charged,” Biden said in 2010. “I am a Philadelphia Flyers fan and I make no bones about it. I was a Flyers fan before, but then I married a Philly girl.”

“Philadelphia fans are the most, uh, most persistent fans in the world,” Biden continued. “My wife is counted among them….it’s a simple proposition. I root fervently for the Flyers or I sleep alone. It’s not a hard call. It’s not a hard call at all. That was one hell of a series, though.”

According to Politico Playbook, Biden was likely in Philadelphia during the day because he’s interested in setting up shop at the University of Pennsylvania after he leaves The White House.

Outgoing Vice President Joe Biden will “set up shop” at the University of Pennsylvania after packing up his bags in Washington, D.C., according to Politico Playbook.

The news organization reports that Biden is eyeing Penn as “a university to house his staff and his post-government work,” though a spokesperson for Biden declined to comment for the story.

This is about as close as we’re going to get to Barack’ing The Red. Thanks for stopping by, Joe.
