Before the drop of the puck in Game Three, Edmonton Oilers fans in Roger’s Place were ready to listen to Canadian country signer Brent Kissel sing the US national anthem.
When Kissel began to sing, however, his mic stopped working.
That wasn’t a problem for the Canadian crowd though. After just a little urging from Kissel, the crowd of 18,000 began to sing the Star-Spangled Banner. The result was incredible.

Instead of being upset about not working, Kissel was thrilled that the crowd came to the rescue to show a wonderful sign of respect to the visiting American team.

Although the Oilers ultimately fell 6-3 to the Ducks, the team’s fans definitely earned some major points for respect tonight. It’s always great to hear a crowd sing the national anthem loudly and proudly, but to hear it sung by a Canadian crowd is really special.
Now I think it’s time for us all to learn the words to O Canada so that we can sing it just as masterfully next time a Canadian team is in town.
