Handsy officiating crew drags Tom Wilson to penalty box by collar, adjusts Alex Chiasson’s helmet

On Tuesday night, not only did NHL referees dole out penalties during the Caps-Stars game, they also treated some of the players like helpless or out-of-control toddlers.

Tom Wilson and Alex Chiasson both got some special attention.

First, after Caps enforcer Tom Wilson fought Antoine Roussel and kept punching, linesman Derek Nansen had enough and asserted his dominance over the hockey giant. Nansen violently grabbed Wilson by the collar and gave the Capitals forward a personal escort to the penalty box. It was almost as if Nansen morphed into a mama cat scruffing one of her young after it wandered too far away.

Next, a week after Alex Ovechkin tried to flip Alex Chiasson’s helmet over his eyes, Chiasson found himself in a similar equipment related pickle.

During a fracas behind the Dallas Stars net, Chiasson’s helmet became dislodged.

Linesman Pierre Racicot stepped in and properly rearranged his bucket back on his head. He appears to hug Chiasson before skating him away from the scrum.
