Tom Wilson and Logan Thompson are back on their home continent after competing at the Milan-Cortina Olympics and winning silver.
The two Washington Capitals teammates flew back with the rest of Team Canada on Monday, arriving at Miami International Airport in the late afternoon, per reporting by the Miami Herald’s Al Butler.
Canadian captain Sidney Crosby, who was unable to suit up for the team in the Gold Medal Game, was captured by Butler signing autographs for fans at the airport.
The airport’s X account also posted a photo that included Wilson holding his hockey sticks out of the luggage area.
Both the Canadian and the United States’ hockey teams’ flights were rerouted to South Florida to avoid the massive blizzard in the northeast.
“[Monday] — because it’s 8 o’clock [in Italy] — I believe Canada is flying back, but there’s a storm, so they’re going south a little bit, so there’s some different things in play,” Capitals head coach Spencer Carbery said on Sunday after the team’s practice.
Capitals forward Martin Fehervary, whose Team Slovakia finished fourth in the Olympics, already arrived back home on Sunday, receiving a hero’s welcome from his girlfriend and newborn baby.
The U.S. team touched down at MIA on ITA Airways flight 9080 shortly before the Canadians, receiving a water cannon salute around 2:15 pm.
After interviews at the airport, the team got into double-decker buses and were paraded around the city.
They’ll complete their evening partying at E11EVEN MIAMI before flying to DC to attend President Trump’s State of the Union address on Tuesday night.
