John Carlson and Justin Sourdif miss Capitals game against Sharks due to injury

The Washington Capitals will be without veteran defenseman John Carlson and rookie center Justin Sourdif against the San Jose Sharks on Wednesday night.

Carlson has an upper-body injury, while Sourdif is out with a lower-body injury.

Carlson, 35, participated in the team’s warmup skate ahead of the action but did not dress in the game. Sourdif, 23, did not take warmups after missing a few late shifts during the Capitals’ 3-1 win over the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday.

With Carlson out of action, Declan Chisholm replaced him on the left side of the defense. Nic Dowd, activated off injured reserve ahead of the game, will play in his first game since November 17 on the third line.
