Devante Smith-Pelly is adding another TV gig to his resume.

Monday, the NHL Network announced that they hired the former Washington Capitals forward as a studio analyst.

Smith-Pelly’s first appearance will come on NHL Tonight: First Shift at 4 pm (EST) alongside EJ Hradek. He’s also scheduled to be on NHL Tonight on Tuesday, November 4, at 9 pm (EST) with Tony Luftman and Bruce Boudreau, and on Wednesday, November 5, at 10 pm (EST) with Jamison Coyle and Mike Johnson.

“Players always gravitate to NHL Network when they’re playing to check out what’s going on around the league,” Smith-Pelly said in a statement. “So, to fast-forward and now have a chance to join the crew and share my experiences and my perspective from the ice to fans across the world is an opportunity I’m extremely excited about. I can’t wait to get started on all the different shows and give my perspective of the current game as I see it.”

Smith-Pelly is just the latest former player to share his insights, joining former NHLers Pat Maroon and Nate Thompson, who made their debuts earlier this year.

Smith-Pelly played eight seasons in the NHL for the Anaheim Ducks (2011-2015), Montreal Canadiens (2015-2016), New Jersey Devils (2016-2017), and Washington Capitals (2017-2019). DSP was a member of the Capitals’ Stanley Cup team in 2018, scoring the game-tying goal in Game 5 — the same night they became champions.

DSP will also continue to make appearances on Monumental Sports Network, where he has been a contributor to the Capitals’ pre- and postgame shows.

RMNB is not associated with the Washington Capitals; Monumental Sports, the NHLPA, the NHL, or its properties. Not even a little bit.
