Conor Sheary scored a milestone goal in the American Hockey League on Saturday.

The former Washington Capitals forward scored the Syracuse Crunch’s Teddy Bear Toss goal 18:27 into the first period, sending stuffed animals flying at Upstate Medical University Arena.

The 32-year-old Sheary scored out of mid-air, knocking a rebound baseball-style into the net. Sheary, wearing number 73 in white, celebrated with his teammates as teddy bears and other stuffies quickly collected on the ice.

The goal was Sheary’s fifth of the 2024-25 season and his 13th point in 18 games. Sheary was put on waivers by the Tampa Bay Lightning and sent down to the minors on October 24.

Sheary’s tally was the only goal scored in the game and stood as the game-winner in the Crunch’s 1-0 win over the Utica Comets.

The event was Syracuse’s 14th annual Teddy Bear Toss. The team collected 11,789 stuffed animals — a new team record — for local charities.
