The Washington Capitals have another dad on the team after the birth of Connor McMichael and girlfriend Lene Andersen’s first child this week, a baby boy.

During an appearance on 106.7 The Fan’s The Sports Junkies on Friday, Capitals head coach Spencer Carbery shared the happy news, revealing the young forward was a “Proud new dad, I might add as well.”

McMichael’s dad strength seems to have come in early: he scored two unanswered goals against the Philadelphia Flyers on Wednesday and now has seven points (3g, 5a) in six games.

McMichael left Capital One Arena in a hurry after his big night. Reporters were told postgame McMichael had to attend to a personal situation and would not be available to interview, signaling the baby’s imminent arrival.

Though the couple have no other children, they adopted a black lab, Knight, in 2021.

Congratulations, Connor and Lene!
