It is upon us. The 2024-25 season has already begun for most of the NHL. The only things left are for the Washington Capitals themselves to get started — and for you all to make your formal predictions. There are some big ones– Alex Ovechkin’s chase for Wayne Gretzky’s goal record in particular — but a whole lot more we need to register our guesses on before it’s too late.
For example:
- Will the Caps make the playoffs? And how many standings points will they get?
- Will Ovi catch Wayne and how many goals will he score?
- Who will lead the Caps in points?
- Will TJ Oshie suit up?
- Who will win the Cup and who will be dead last?
All that and more, plus the question I will keep asking until it comes true: is this the year Ted buys a baseball team?
It will take you two minutes to do. I’ll share my own predictions below; feel free to roast me, I don’t care, I’m immune to it by now. You can’t hurt me anymore.
We’ll share results here soon — and we’ll revisit this all come April. In the meantime, you can see how we all fared last time around. Good luck.
