Don’t look now, but Game 5 of 6 of the Washington Capitals’ preseason schedule is here. And it’s a rematch from Friday night.

Two days after being blown out 8-4 by a late-arriving Columbus Blue Jackets team, the Capitals have traveled to Ohio not just for a rematch, but a four-day team-building trip.

Rasmus Sandin will play in his first game of the preseason after visa issues caused him to miss the first week of Training Camp while Jakub Vrana will get in his fourth exhibition game as he tries to earn a contract with the team. Hendrix Lapierre returns after struggling in his opening appearances. Logan Thompson will get the start in net and play the entire game.

Caps-Blue Jackets can be watched on Monumental Sports Network. Puck drop is shortly after 7 pm. Joe Beninati and Craig Laughlin have the call.

Jakub Vrana can’t finish on a breakaway.

🚨 1-0 Washington Capitals. WSH Goal: Nic Dowd (1). Assists: B. Duhaime (1). Time: 06:49.

Duhaime steps up and helps activate Nic Dowd on a 2-on-1. Dowd goes bar down and scores a magnificent goal.

🚨 1-1 tie. CBJ Goal: Denton Mateychuk (1). Assists: K. Marchenko (1), S. Monahan (1). Time: 07:12.

Mateychuk answers 23 seconds later, beating Thompson down the left wing with a stunner of a shot.

At intermission: The Capitals lead in shots 9 to 7.

2nd period

Puck is dropped.

Fourth line with another odd-man break.

🚨 2-1 Washington Capitals. WSH Goal: Tom Wilson (1). Assists: T. van Riemsdyk (1), C. McMichael (1). Time: 00:48.

A TVR point shot off a faceoff win goes off Tom Wilson’s skate boot and in past Tarasov.

Nice to see Pierre-Luc Dubois legging out and beating an icing call, then keeping the puck away from two Blue Jackets players along the boards simultaneously.

Jakub Vrana draws a penalty using his speed to try and forecheck.

Another breakaway for Vrana after a heads up pass by Sgarbossa. V is skating and creating high-danger chances.

🚨 3-1 Washington Capitals. WSH PPG: Pierre-Luc Dubois (1). Assists: T. Wilson (1), I. Miroshnichenko (1). Time: 19:59.

Dubois scores a buzzer beater at the end of the second period while the Capitals are up two men. Wilson made a great pass to Dubois across the crease for the one timer.

At intermission: The Capitals are outshooting the Blue Jackets 24 to 16 and out-attempting them at 5v5, 32 to 30.

3rd period

Puck is dropped.

Logan Thompson gets run over by Hunter McKown after Alex Alexeyev pushes him into the net. Somehow the Capitals get the power play after that craziness. A loud “ref you suck” chant at Nationwide Arena.

🚨 3-2 Columbus Blue Jackets. CBJ Goal: Luca Del Bel Belluz (1). Assists: J. van Riemsdyk (1), J. Christiansen (1). Time: 14:58.

Del Bel Belluz beats Thompson to the right corner after racing into the zone and getting some space down the right wing.

Capitals win 3-2. Shots on goal were tied 26 to 26. The Capitals out-attempted the Blue Jackets at 5v5, 44 to 40.
