The Washington Capitals announced their roster for Monday night’s preseason game against the Columbus Blue Jackets at Nationwide Arena. Rasmus Sandin will make his debut after visa-related issues delayed his travel to North America.

Jakub Vrana will play in his fourth preseason game as he continues to fight for a roster spot with others on the bubble. Ivan Miroshnichenko, Mike Sgarbossa, Alex Alexeyev, and Dylan McIlrath will also notably get jerseys.

Logan Thompson is slated for his second start after he took down the Devils in his first. Thompson will play the entire game and have Charlie Lindgren backing him up.

The game may be their final chance to impress as Carbery will likely want to use the team’s final outing against the Boston Bruins on October 5 as a full dress rehearsal for Washington’s Opening Night matchup with the New Jersey Devils on October 12.

The Capitals’ practice on Sunday was the first of camp featuring just one group of skaters. Carbery used the opportunity to line up many of the players who will be involved in Monday’s game with their eventual linemates, giving a glimpse at what his team will likely look like against Columbus.

Carbery announced that Alex Ovechkin, Dylan Strome, Andrew Mangiapane, Jakob Chychrun, and John Carlson will all not play in the game due to playing two in a row earlier this week. However, they will still be on the trip to Columbus as the Capitals have team-building events planned for the players and coaching staff in Ohio for a few days after the game.

The Blue Jackets roster will be similar to the one that beat the Capitals 8-4 on Friday.

Monday night’s game will be televised on Monumental Sports Network, with puck drop set for 7 pm.
