The Washington Capitals placed five players from their Training Camp roster on waivers Saturday.
Ethen Frank, Hardy Häman Aktell, Alex Limoges, Chase Priskie, and Riley Sutter have all been waived ahead of further cuts to the team’s preseason group. All five skaters are now free to be claimed by any team over the next 24 hours. If they are not claimed, they’ll join up with the AHL’s Hershey Bears once their camp begins on Monday.
The news was first reported by Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman. They were joined on waivers by 18 other players from around the league.

Frank is perhaps the most notable cut from Washington’s roster. He entered camp in contention for one of the few open forward spots on the team’s roster but was unable to create much buzz through three preseason games.
The 26-year-old winger was in the Capitals’ lineup against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Friday night but didn’t deliver the performance that head coach Spencer Carbery was looking for.
“I’ve liked some of the things he’s done in practice,” Capitals head coach Spencer Carbery said pregame. “I think the games haven’t been his best showing, I’ll put it that way. From talking to him, I think he would agree with that. And that’s hard. In the games he’s played in, the team struggled, [that] might have a little bit to do with it as well. [I’ll] need him to take a big step if and when he gets into another game.”
All five players were major parts of Hershey’s roster last season, playing well into late June as the Bears successfully went back-to-back as Calder Cup champions.
