Chase Priskie played a huge role in the Hershey Bears’ 2024 Calder Cup championship run. Now the defenseman is returning to the Washington Capitals organization for another year.
Sunday, hours before the start of free agency on Monday, the Capitals came to an agreement with Priskie on a one-year, two-way contract.
Per PuckPedia, Priskie will make $775k in the NHL and $400k in the AHL. The contract is a $50k raise from his salary in the minors last year.

Priskie emerged as the Bears’ most consistent, point-producing defenseman in the Calder Cup Playoffs, tying for the league lead among all AHL rearguards with 14 points. Four of those points came on the power play where Priskie scored one goal and added three assists.
During the regular season, the 28-year-old, right-handed shooting defenseman had 34 points (8g, 26a) in 69 games, including three game-winning goals. The eight goals tied his career high, while the 26 assists and 34 points were career bests.
Priskie was originally a Capitals’ sixth-round pick in the 2016 NHL Draft but opted not to sign with the team out of Quinnipiac University. He instead inked an entry-level contract with the Carolina Hurricanes as an unrestricted free agent.
Hershey was Priskie’s sixth-different AHL team in five seasons. He previously suited up for Charlotte Checkers, Springfield Thunderbirds, Syracuse Crunch, Rochester Americans, and San Diego Gulls.
