TJ Oshie has an important message to the Washington Capitals ahead of Game 4: “Just let it all hang out there.”
Oshie made the comments after the team’s morning skate on Sunday where he became a quote machine.
“It’s a chance to lay it all on the line,” Oshie said of the Capitals’ possible elimination game. “We can’t do anything about the first three games The worst thing you can do is wake up tomorrow and regret not blocking a shot, or regret not back-checking as hard as you absolutely can.”
He added, “Your back’s against the wall, you gotta throw everything at them. There’s really no reason to be nervous. We don’t got any time for it. Just got out there, get to our game.”
In the interview, Oshie said that he was personally “excited about the challenge” and said it was important for the 12 skaters upfront to have a shift-after-shift wave mentality.
“We need all four forward lines continuously getting pucks deep and continuously building momentum,” Oshie said. “Even if you don’t score or get a shot on net, frustrating them with how hard we’re going to work and how hard we’re going to come at them and how north we’re going to play.”
Only four teams in NHL history have come back from a 3-0 series deficit and gone on to win. The Caps’ chances are slim, but they are not none. Oshie focused on the positives.
“There’s nothing like it,” Oshie said. “It’s the best part of about playing hockey, it’s an NHL playoff game.”
Puck drop at Capital One Arena is a little after 8 pm.
