The Washington Capitals will be without Beck Malenstyn for the rest of its game against the Boston Bruins.

With 4:20 remaining in the second period, Malenstyn was injured after absorbing a high open-ice hit from Trent Frederick in the Bruins’ defensive zone. Malenstyn laid sprawled out on the ice for seven seconds before the whistle was blown.

Malenstyn was woozily helped off the ice by John Carlson.

Several minutes into the third period, the Capitals announced that Malenstyn would not return to the game, putting the Capitals down a forward for the conclusion of the must-win game.

The Capitals are already missing Nick Jensen and Rasmus Sandin to injury. Ethan Bear is also in NHL/NHLPA Player Assitance.

Ivan Miroschnichenko and Michael Sgarbossa were the team’s healthy scratches at forward.

RMNB is not associated with the Washington Capitals; Monumental Sports, the NHLPA, the NHL, or its properties. Not even a little bit.
