Hershey Bears Calder Cup champion Sam Anas is staying in the KHL for the foreseeable future.
The star forward signed a two-year extension with Dinamo Minsk that will keep him in Belarus through 2026.
“I am glad to sign a new agreement,” Anas said in an interview with the team and translated by Google Translate. “It’s a great honor to be offered a new contract for two more seasons. My wife and I like everything about Minsk. The people are friendly, the hockey component is at a high level. There are all conditions for life. So everything’s great.”
Anas is having a sensational first season across the globe. He’s Dinamo’s leading scorer and sits 17th in total KHL scoring, notching 19 goals, 24 assists, and 43 points in 55 games. Anas recently scored his first career KHL hat trick on January 19 in Dinamo’s 5-1 win over Kunlun Red Star.
After posting 12 points (4g, 8a) in 20 playoff games with Hershey, the Potomac, Maryland native signed with Dinamo shortly after the Bears lifted the Calder Cup.
Anas, who played for the Washington Little Capitals and the Landon Bears, held part of his Calder Cup day at Rockville Ice Arena.
