Late in the second period of Saturday’s Stars-Avs game, Colorado skaters Gabriel Landeskog and Cale Makar were desperately back-checking to catch Tyler Seguin. Landeskog wasn’t going to make it in time, so he made a move we don’t see much in the today’s NHL.
Landeskog shoved Makar’s rear with his stick, giving enough of a speed boost for Makar to tie up Seguin just past the blue line.
Nathan MacKinnon scored moments later.
No one ever does this, at least not on the pro level, as Alex Rajaniemi notes.
I knew it! Landeskog speed boosts Cale Makar to catch Seguin just before the MacKinnon goal.

I can’t help but think of Lucio from Overwatch.
(Sorry for bringing Peter’s Esports Corner into this.)
The Avs dropped game one to the Stars 5-3.
