Lars Eller can’t practice with Capitals, forced to work out inside hotel room during quarantine

Todd Reirden spoke to reporters in a Zoom video conference after Monday’s optional practice. During which, we learned that it might not be easy for Lars Eller to immediately step back into the lineup for Game One of the Capitals’ first-round series against the New York Islanders on Wednesday.

Eller, who left the bubble for the birth of his second child, Alexander, returned to Toronto’s Hotel X on Saturday.

The Capitals’ third-line center is currently quarantining away from his teammates in the hotel and must test negative for COVID-19 four-straight times before he can return to the team. Eller is under the supervision of NHL officials.

While Eller is unable to work out with the team, he can exercise inside his hotel room. The Tiger showed off some of the goodies he has which includes free weights, a jump rope, a hockey stick, and weighted balls.

There’s good shape and there’s game shape and it appears that seven days away from the rink may keep Eller from making his series debut until later.
