TJ Oshie’s fight with Yanni Gourde sparks Capitals to two unanswered goals to close period

After a sleepy start to their first 2020 playoffs game, TJ Oshie tried to wake the Capitals up with a spirited fight with Yanni Gourde late in the second period.

Spoiler alert: it worked.

Video

Oshie instigated the fight by punching Gourde twice in the head.

Once they agreed to go, the two players wrestled for what seemed like an eternity before exchanging several face punches.

And then they giggled about it in the penalty box because hockey.

While the fight didn’t produce any blood, it did spur the Capitals to two goals to close the second stanza from Richard Panik and Evgeny Kuznetsov.
