TJ Oshie made one frontline worker’s day who really needed a pick-me-up.
Longtime Capitals fan Jackie Greeves is a nurse currently working at ground zero of the battle against the novel coronavirus: Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City. Over 18k people have died in NYC, and Queens, where the hospital is located, has had the highest number of COVID-19 deaths of any United States county.
Oshie recorded a video and sent it to Jackie after being tipped off by her fanhood for the Capitals.

“Hey, Jackie. It’s TJ and Leni,” TJ begins. “Just want to say thank you for all you do and let you know we support you. Go Caps!”
Then he turned to Leni and whispered in her ear. “Thank you, Jackie,” Leni says in a sweet voice.
“I had a very hard day at work yesterday and in the afternoon I received the video,” Jackie said in an interview with RMNB. “It was a wonderful surprise that helped me get through the rest of my day. It’s nice knowing everyone out there recognizes and appreciates the work all the healthcare workers are doing on the front lines.”
Jackie is a palliative care nurse practitioner. She is taking care of COVID-19 patients and coordinating communication virtually with families. Originally from Washington DC Jackie and every member of the Greeves family is a huge Capitals fan. Jackie, her father, and brother even traveled to Las Vegas for Game Five of the 2018 Stanley Cup Final where the Capitals became Stanley Cup champions for the first time.

“It has been difficult time,” Jackie said, “but we definitely feel the support and appreciation from everyone.”
Oshie’s video continues the personal touch he’s put on expressing his gratitude to those who are battling COVID-19 and keeping us safe.
“I saw the stuff Nick and Zim are doing (with Pros for Heroes),” Oshie recently said in a Zoom call with the Capitals media. “I haven’t fully committed to one thing or another. I have been sending out some videos moreso to friends of friends thanking the doctors and nurses and some other things aren’t necessarily COVID related but some other sad stories.”
Surprising Jackie was a good choice. Mount Sinai has been one of the most documented hospitals by news organizations to show how devastating not bending the curve can be.
From everyone at RMNB, thank you, Jackie, for everything you’re doing to keep us all safe.
