Ryan Ellis raced the number 78 RMNB e-car at the virtual Monza Oval live on Twitch, Sunday. The iRacing stream can be watched below.
Over 60 drivers competed in “Monza Madness” including NASCAR drivers Denny Hamlin, Matt DiBenedetto, Kyle Larson, Kurt Busch, and former champion Bobby Labonte. The race was set up by NASCAR drivers Landon Cassill and Garrett Smithley.
Alan Bestwick did the play-by-play of the wild, crash-filled 30-lap race.
Ellis ran eighth during practice.
And qualified 40th and started in the 20th row.
Ryan’s strategy was the following.
Crash less than everyone else
— Ryan Ellis (@ryanellisracing) April 13, 2020
Ryan ultimately finished in 28th after getting wrecked twice. He was just a few spots behind Daytona 500 winner Denny Hamlin.
“I got stuck in the pit road wall the first time I got wrecked. At that point, I was sixth,” Ellis said. “Then I was like 20th and someone put me into the woods and I got stuck in a tree.”
