Okay, I’ve got good news. Yeah, yeah, the Capitals are playing like irradiated toilet trash lately and Alex Ovechkin has decided to stay at 699 goals forever because he says it is “nice”, but today the Washington Capitals will play a team so bad that they might win without actually playing any better.
The New Jersey Devils are hosting the boys today at 1 PM. My favorite friend, Chris Cerullo, has the recap.

#CapsProm2020
Our friends at PQST are hosting a fancy clothes soiree today. It’s called #CapsProm2020. If you’re in the hood, go and send us pics. Have fun everyone!
Storylines
- Ovi finally hit 699. How far off is 700?
- Ian and I talked about panicking. Here’s a pithy excerpt:
Here's just a little TASTE so you plebs know what good good stuff you're missing. (It'll be on the main feed tomorrow.) pic.twitter.com/jyDb4vVi3W
— RMNB (@rmnb) February 21, 2020
- The Knights are up to something. They’ve dumped Cody Eakin’s near 4 million cap hit to the Jets.
- Samsonov today, Holtby tomorrow.
- We did not like the Habs game.
- Just wanna shout out the divine Ms. Elyse Bailey on the occasion of her birthday. Elyse is whip-smart and clever and — despite whatever 2019 and 2020 throw at her — unbeatable. I wish her a happy birthday, and I surrender to her all my admiration.
Peter’s Esports Corner
The Overwatch League makes its DC debut today at The Anthem as the Washington Justice host the weekend’s games. I’m pretty excited to see how the crowd reacts and what the turnout is. I’d have been there myself if not for a bunch of conflicts.
Picks for this weekend in #OWL2020 — got a good feeling about @washjustice, wish I could be there pic.twitter.com/YniS4JM6Zp

NYXL should cruise through the weekend with two easy games, but I’m thinking Outlaws will get their first W of the season against Boston today. Justice might be able to sweep their homestand; Paris is unproven, and Spitfire looked a bit of a mess in their opening games. I’m just bummed I’ll miss Kariv and Agilities (late of LA Valiant) playing in DC for the first time, as I’ll be covering tomorrow’s Caps-Pens game.
