The NHL released their latest Puck Personality video, and Alex Ovechkin and Connor McDavid figured mightily in it.
NHL stars were asked If you could steal another player’s skill whose would you take and why?
Mathew Barzal, Dylan Larkin, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, and Jaccob Slavin all wanted Alex Ovechkin’s shot.
“So I’m probably going to steal the ability and the power of Ovechkin’s shot,” Slavin said.
“Thank you,” Ovechkin said beaming. “Thank you, guys.”
But what would Ovi, one of the greatest goal-scorers of all-time, want?
“I take the speed,” Ovechkin said. But there was some nuance to his response. “Not McDavid. I don’t want to be too fast.”
Ovechkin added, “Maybe Kucherov.”
Ovi: “Speed”
Interviewer: “McDavid?”
Ovi: “No I don’t want to be too fast” https://t.co/Vb58cfh1WA— capitals expert (@averagecapsfan) January 28, 2020
While Ovechkin did not want McDavid’s rocket-like wheels, 17 other NHL players did.
“I’d say McDavid or MacKinnon’s speed,” Sidney Crosby said. “I’d love to have that and see what it feels going down the ice.”
Other players that wanted McDavid’s skating ability includes Auston Matthews, Tomas Hertl, Thomas Chabot, Jonathan Huberdeau, Bo Horvat, Vladimir Tarasenko, Jonathan Toews, Alex Debrincat, Derek Stepan, Sean Couturier, Kevin Hayes, Anze Kopitar, Matt Duchene, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Torrey Krug, and Cam Atkinson.
“Speed kills,” Atkinson said.
Meanwhile, Torrey Krug wanted Chara’s size or McDavid’s speed, though, confused he said, “I don’t know if size is a skill.”
