Hey, Washington Capitals. Get out your binoculars and squint your eyes. You’re at the top of the NHL standings. Take in that fresh mountain air.
Friday, after their 4-3 win over the Carolina Hurricanes, the Capitals became the first NHL team to 60 points.
Though I have some sad news. Those womp rats from Colorado have overtaken Washington and are the NHL’s new highest scoring team.
We're halfway through the season, can you believe it!?
Also, we're the NHL's highest-scoring team, averaging 3.68 goals-per-game.

According to the NHL’s PR Department, the Capitals got to 60 first for the first time in franchise history.

They’ve only *technically* had a better regular season in 2015-16 when Barry Trotz led the Caps to 60 in three fewer games.
Fewest games to 60 standings points, @Capitals history:

The Capitals were led by Evgeny Kuznetsov, who had a goal and an assist, and Ilya Samsonov who made a career-high 38 saves. Samsonov also became the first goalie in NHL history to win his first eight career road games in a single season.
