Let us give thanks to Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin. On this gr8 Capsgiving night, Ovi reminded us why he’s one of the best dang goalscorers in NHL history.
Ovechkin gave the Caps a 1-0 lead late in the first period after a nice pass by Evgeny Kuznetsov.
Kuzy started the play by grabbing a juicy neutral zone turnover by Panthers forward Dominic Toninato. The Russian center gained the zone and then left a delicious drop pass for Alex Ovechkin.
Surrounded in a bubble by four different Panthers defenders, a hungry Ovechkin deked past Mark Pysyk and beat Sergei Bobrovsky five-hole for the 674th goal of his career. The goal marked Ovi’s 13th career goal against Bobrovsky. Give this man some extra stuffing!

Ovechkin then gave some extra gravy to Kuzy as celebrated in the arms of his fellow countryman and TJ Oshie.
But it’s how easy Ovi scored despite being surrounded by so many different Panthers players that made the play so scrumptious.

Look at all those turkeys.
All five Panthers players were in the defensive zone and in a bubble around Ovi. He still scored. pic.twitter.com/w5wBLrYmDF

Ovi is a bonafide Hockey Hall of Famer. And I am thankful for this man.

Now someone please pass the cranberry sauce.
Alex Ovechkin scores his 16th goal of the season, which is tied for the fourth most in the NHL. It's also his 13th career goal he's scored in the regular season against Sergei Bobrovsky.

It’s time to eat.
Already the NHL's all-time leading goal scorer at the left wing position, Ovechkin's 674 career goals are 11 shy of passing Teemu Selanne (684) for the 11th most goals in NHL history.
