Braden Holtby shut the Philadelphia Flyers out for the first 53 minutes and 22 seconds of the game on Wednesday but needed his teammates to score more than the other guys in a shootout to get the 2-1 win.
The Capitals beat Flyers goaltender Carter Hart only once in regulation (36 shots on goal) – a Brendan Leipsic rebound in the first period.

In the shootout, TJ Oshie (52% career shooter) and Evgeny Kuznetsov (43%) both scored while Holtby made a stop on Sean Couturier during the final attempt for the victory.
“Every time your goalie only lets in one, you should get at least a point out of that,” Lars Eller said after the game to NHL.com. “Gives us a very good chance to win, and that’s all we can ask of him. He certainly did his part tonight.”
Oshie showed the puck on his forehand and then beat Hart clean five-hole.
