The Carolina Hurricanes beat the Ottawa Senators 8-2 at PNC Arena, Monday. And there was a party atmosphere throughout the game.
As Fox Sports South went live on the concourse, Hurricanes fans stood in the background of the set hoping to get on TV. One fan, however, was more hungry than starstruck and carried out what ESPN is calling “the greatest theft ever captured on film 🍦.”

As a Canes fan looked down at his friend’s phone, he subsequently held his ice cream cone up at shoulder level. A fellow Canes fan, presumably with his stomach rumbling, then saw his opportunity to strike.
The toque-wearing fan slowly slid the cone out of the wrapper before taking a large chomp of the vanilla ice cream at the top. As he tried to put the cone back in the wrapper, the other fan became wise to the plot and turned around to see who stole his precious postgame treat.
The perpetrator, now found out, snuck away in the dark of night with the delicious evidence.
