Former Capital Nathan Walker, the feisty Australian forward who loves to lug around giant teddy bears and hop around like a kangaroo when celebrating postseason wins, is thriving in the American Hockey League.
With six points in two games to help the San Antonio Rampage take down the Wilkes-Barre Penguins twice in one weekend, Walker is being recognized for his stellar performance with AHL Player of the Week honors.

The former Bear is tied for second in the AHL in points (12) and tied for fourth in goals (7). He’s already had two multi-goal games in October already.
Walker has also shone on the powerplay and is tied for the lead-league in powerplay points with four. Fox Sports Midwest has him at the top of the list of players who could be of service if called up by the Blues.
Strong depth was a major key to the #stlblues' first Stanley Cup victory. Thanks to the @sarampage, they again have plenty of potential reinforcements to choose from. pic.twitter.com/lKLY78EmZ2

Walker was signed by the Blues during the offseason but was put on waivers during training camp. Instead of sending him down to their AHL affiliate when he wasn’t claimed, they kept him up with the main squad, where he faced the Capitals in a preseason game.
Travis Boyd also received AHL player of the Week honors with the Hershey Bears earlier in October.

He might have been knocked down, but he got up again–and scored while doing it.
