On Wednesday, the Washington Capitals asked WNBA champion Elena Delle Donne to announce the starting lineup inside the locker room before their game against the Maple Leafs. The Capitals went on to win 4-3 and after the game, Capitals forward Tom Wilson invited EDD back on his Instagram Story because hockey players “are superstitious.”
Delle Donne did not return for the Caps’ game against the New York Rangers on Friday, but another recent champion did the honor instead.
Outfielder Adam Eaton, a member of the National League champion Washington Nationals, got the Caps pumped up before the game.
“Let’s GO!! Let’s go!” Eaton began. “These freaking guys from New York – they don’t know what’s about to hit em here, eh? Eh? We’re looking to do the same. We’ve got some guys, the Yankees, these Rangers, man. We’re going to give it to them right off the bat.
“Ovechkin!
“Oh boy. Backstrom!
“Oshie baby.
“Siegs!
“Carlson!
“Holtby, baby.
“Let’s go! C’mon. That’s what I’m talking about.”
Eaton was at the game along with many of his teammates ahead of the team’s first appearance in the World Series. Nationals’ ace Max Scherzer dropped the puck, er baseball, before the game.
The Capitals scored the first goal of the game, so it looks like Spanky properly pumped up the team.
